To begin with, I have to say that I am a big admirer of the author and that I also read his first two books (Sapiens and Homo Deus) with great delight. So my view might be a bit biased.This said, I find his new book even more insightful than the two previous ones. The author presents his arguments for the various highly relevant topics (as always) very carefully. The last chapters on the "meaning of life" are not particularly easy to read, especially from an emotional perspective, but are maybe the most important ones. I found the chapter on meditation as closing of the book very encouraging.I cannot recommend this book enough, especially to people who are willing to put aside their own prejudices and to critically examine their own perspective to the various important topics of life.
Das Buch haelt nicht , was es verspricht. Er springt plakativ von Thema zu Thema, schmeisst statements in den Raum, begründet sie nicht tiefgründig. Es ist ein Sammelsurium an Platitüden, die jeglicher Wissenschaft fern sind... von Bhagavadgita zu Lion King mag da nur ein Beispiel sein.Das Buch ist eine völlige Enttäuschung
I'd say the topics mentioned in this book are very interesting ones indeed. However, I cannot help myself disliking the book for its pretentiousness.
Ich kann die negativen Reviews nicht verstehen: Das Buch ist alles andere als oberflächlich oder unwissenschaftlich. Harari hat sich einfach grosse Mühe gegeben, seine Erkenntnisse aus der „Meta-Geschichte“, die sein wissenschaftliches Fachgebiet ist, einfach und verständlich darzustellen und somit nachvollziehbar zu machen. Da seien ihm auch Verweise auf die Popkultur nicht nur verziehen sondern man muss sich geradezu dafür bedanken.
Sehr schlecht geschrieben. Nur oberflächliche und vereinfachte Statements. Der Autor setzt sich nicht tiefgründig und philosophisch mit den Themen auseinander. Einige Sachverhalte sind sogar faktisch falsch dargestellt. Auf keinen Fall zu empfehlen.
Simply the most gripping, well written non-fiction boik I have ever read. I can't recommend it highly enough to anyone who has ever wondered anything about the world we live in and the society we are a part of.
Sehr erhellend, interessant und klug.Die Lektüre hat meinen Horizont erweitert und Sichtweisen in einen anderen Kontext gesetzt bei mir. Harari ordnet ein und erklärt viel von dem, was die Welt von heute prägt und beschäftigt. Dabei ist er nicht nur abstrakt und analysierend, seine Ausführungen wirken auch umsichtig und lassen Humanismus und Wertschätzung für den Menschen durchscheinen.
Whatever you used to be, whatever you prepared to be, all of it is likely to be totally irrelevant. The rate of change has accelerated so massively, that managing your life is like changing the propellors on an airplane, while you are flying it. Get used to it.
